Tuesday Afternoon Quarterbacking

Well everything pretty much went to plan in the first half. Special Teams play check. Offense moving the ball check. Solid Defense check. Then the Second half was marked by an inability to move the ball on offense and the inability to stop Jonathon Stewart in key situations.

The Bears in the first half far out played the Panthers, but the score 10-0 didn't reflect this and the Panthers were able to play well enough in the 2nd half to stick around and steal a win. This is a game that got away from the Bears. The Bears gave it away as much as the Panthers won it.

The game was plagued by penalties. The difference was the Panthers were eventually able to overcome them. It seemed like every punt or kick off return had a penalty forcing the offense to start with horrible field position. The fact that Brad Maynard had a poor game also didn't help. The mistakes eventually made this game to much to handle for the defense. The Olsen fumbles, the block in the back, the poor kicking, false starts, and the overthrown balls.

Offensive MVB: Matt Forte, second week in a row, didn't turn the ball over got the most out of every play
Honorable Mention: O-Line once again a decent game, but not as good as the first one. Orton didn't seem like he was in too much danger all game

Defensive MVB: Kevin Payne, he came back from a shaky week one start to force a fumble and play solidly

Lesson to be Learned: The Bears need to step on the gas when they have a team on the ropes. I felt that after the win at Indy they felt like they could hold on to a win here and just run out the clock . They needed to go after a win and finish off the Panthers before they could get the momentum on their side again.
