A Rose by any other name

So it's been a while, but I should be able to post more often with session over.

So let's get down to it. The Bulls, so much to talk about. 1st pick, coach, direction. I'll try and focus on one topic for now, the #1 pick.

Derrick Rose. I'll admit that I didn't watch too much college basketball, but I did see both of them play in the tournament. I thought both were impressive. Beasley was a force down below and Rose seemed in control of the game. You wouldn't have guessed that he was a freshmen. Derrick Rose seems like a better choice given that good quality point guards don't come along too often. Beasley may be a talent, but forwards are plentiful. I think if you look at this season you see Chris Paul, Deron Williams, and Rajon Rondo contributing extensively to their team, not to mention Tony Parker.

I think Paxson agrees, despite some reports that the Bulls have settled on Beasley. In the days following the draft he talked about leadership and how Rose being from Chicago would be counted against him. Paxson has always gone the route of college success and character. Rose would seem to make sense.

On the other hand, the Bulls would still be missing that difference maker, that guy that changes the game and as much as we like to believe Rose will do that, I don't know if that will happen. So there is that hole that need to be filled. That's why the Bulls need to think big this summer. Big as in big name. Do what they should and pull together the plethora of spare parts around and make a deal for a big name player. But that player has to fit within the scheme. I could go more into it, but I'll save it for later. For now the name is Rose.
